Sissy is here! 09/15/2011
Whew! Thank goodness there was no school today...Willie was tired and Helen was just tired of being pregnant. They were home from the hospital...their second trip in two weeks, and no baby yet! She just knew when they made that trip from Kewanee to Sikeston...they would be bringing home a baby. After all according to Helen's calculations, the due date was March 21st and it was the first part of April. Why was this baby being so stubborn? Maybe she just had her dates all wrong...who knows...she just knew she was ready to have this baby. Hopefully on the next trip to the hospital, Larry would be a big brother for real. They were spending extra time with Larry because soon he was going to be pushed out of the nest. One thing he wasn't going to give up was his spot in mommy and daddy's bed! He didn't care if the baby got the baby bed...that was quite okay with him. His mommy explained that there would be a baby coming soon....all he cared about at this very moment was that he was the center of attention...little did he know that would change soon! The day FINALLY came, something was different this time. Willie borrowed a car to take Helen to the hospital, because he wasn't sure if that old car of his could make the trip. It was April 9, 1943...the day that would bring another baby to the Tollison household! They felt so blessed when their bouncing baby girl was born weighing 9 pounds...a big difference from her first baby. Larry had only weighed 7 pounds when he entered their home, but this little baby girl was almost 3 weeks late....that could make a big difference. Willie and Helen had discussed names during the pregnancy, so they didn't have to even think about it...that precious little baby girl would be named after both Helen's mom and Willie's mom. They would use Eunice's middle name "Vera" and a form of Missouri Jane's name "Janiece", but wanted to add a third name. So...Vera Sondra Janiece was the name of that beautiful blue-eyed bundle of joy. She had dark hair and the sweetest little cheeks that Willie snuggled up to...this was his little angel. Sondra came home and was introduced to her big brother, Larry...she would be known as Sissy to him...he already loved her. CommentsSondra 09/15/2011 7:36pm
