To the Doctor and shots in the belly 10/03/2011
Helen had noticed a few days ago that Shelton's dog had been acting funny...like it was having a fit or something. She didn't give it any mind until today. The dog had come up in their yard where the kids were playing and had bit them both in their mouth. Not sure what had taken place before she and Willie ran outside to their crying babies...but she couldn't worry about that right now...she would find out later. The most important thing at this very moment was to get Larry and Sondra to the doctor. Helen had Sondra in her arms and Willie had Larry in his as they ran as fast as their legs would carry them to Shelton's house...He would drive them to the doctor. Shelton was worried too...after all it had been his dog that had attacked the kids. The doctor examined Larry and then Sondra...their lips would not require stitches, but would probably be a little sore for a few days. What a relief! To be safe though, since they didn't know if the dog was sick or not, they would both need rabies shots daily for 10 days. This type of shot was administered in their stomachs...Poor babies! It was a long needle and hurt big time when it went into their stomachs...they would scream and cry. Willie's time home passed so quickly...he could hardly believe that when he and Helen took Larry and Sondra for their 10th and final shot due to the dog bite...he only had 4 more days home. He would be headed back to complete his military service with the U.S. Navy. It was sad that 10 days out of the 14 home was spent taking the kids for shots. Don't get me wrong, he was very thankful they were going to be fine...he just hated like everything seeing them suffer through those shots. They were such troopers for mom and dad...I'm thinking Sondra will think twice now before kicking a dog. Comments Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Leave a Reply | _Author
