Willie's Home-smoochin' and biscuits... 10/01/2011
Willie woke up and realized that he had only been asleep for about 3 hours, but was anxious to get off of that couch and head to Kewanee. He was thankful that James Lomax, Helen's uncle, had encouraged him to sleep some before going to see his family. When he arrived last night...actually in the wee hours of the morning and saw the apartment where he had left his family before leaving for basic was blown away...it totally drained him. Before he knocked on James and Violet's door, he thought that his family had been taken away with the apartment causing his knees to almost buckled beneath him. James reassured him that they were all okay and living in an apartment in Kewanee...he would take him there after he got some rest. Willie was full of excitement and anticipation as he climbed into James' car ! He was one thankful man today, knowing that he was going home to a family that loved him and would be just as excited to see him as he was to see them. He was sad that he had missed Sondra's first birthday and couldn't wait to see her and his little buddy Larry. But most of all...his bride who is just as beautiful today as the day they said "I do" over 3 years ago, would be hugging him and telling him she loved him. They stopped in front of the apartment...Willie got out of the car, looked around at this familiar little town, walked up to the wooden door and knocked. He could hear the footsteps coming toward the door...Helen slung open that door with her heart pounding in her chest. There stood the love of her life...Willie, smiling from ear to ear. They were both so excited to finally see each other for the first time in 6 weeks. They hugged and kissed and just looked in each others eyes... the kids were waiting their turn at daddy, so he whisked them up in his arms! Helen knew that Willie's favorite breakfast was biscuits and milk gravy...so she mixed up some biscuit dough...cut them out with a rim of a cup, and put them on a pan placed it in that little oven on one of the burners. She got out the iron skillet and fried up some bacon...this was a special occasion...Willie is home!!!!! Comments Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Leave a Reply | _Author
