Willie's Surprise 10/21/2011
Willie had received a package that he wasn't expecting... It was a watch from his beautiful wife, Helen...which she said in the note inside was for his birthday. He couldn't believe she would send this to him...it had to be difficult to save the money for it because it definitely wasn't one of those 5 and dime timepieces. He set the time, wound it tight and put to his ear to hear it tick. He would look at it every little while and just smile at what a sweet thing Helen had done. Wow! He had never received such a nice gift...ever! He'd always wanted a watch, but would never spend that kind of money on himself. He sat down that very minute and wrote...My darling Helen..."I received a package in the mail today from a lovely person and it contained a very beautiful and sweet present, a beautiful nice wrist watch." He said he could just hug and kiss her for such a sweet present, but would have to do that when he got home. In the letter he also told her that his ship had taken part in the Okinawa invasion and wrote..."as usual we did our part as the live Japs that were left could tell you." He also let her know that he was feeling pretty good after his operation and told her not to worry. He signed the letter, "I love you darling, Your husband and da da, William Triplett Tollison S1/C." (reading this letter in my Dad's hand writing made me feel so close to him...sure do miss that guy) Comments Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Leave a Reply | _Author

As a lady who's lived through both good & bad circumstances in my life, I've learned and continue to learn a lot of "life lessons". Along the way I have been inspired to be a better me. God is faithful in ALL circumstances and His love covers all. My hope is that you will be inspired to be who you were meant to be. I have been writing this blog about my mom and dad since September of 2011. You can find their story from the beginning by going to the Stories link. Happy Reading!!! ArchivesMarch 2012 |
