Moved In, Settled In and Sunday Best 11/25/2011
They shut the door of their old home leaving behind the writing on the wall. Linda had left her mark on that residence and now they would have that artwork as only a memory to share with her children someday. The Tollisons yet again were getting settled into another home...this time with a family of 6. This was a much nicer place than the previous house, and being able to have city water coming through the facets and an actual restroom was amazing! _The rooms were set up similar to the previous house, but were slightly bigger with the luxury of a shower stall. When they finished carrying in boxes on moving day and the furniture was in its place, they tried out the shower. It was as good as they thought it would be, maybe even better. Before they went to bed that night, the kids were excited to go to the bathroom there in the middle of the house. They were accustomed to using the "thunder mug" as Willie called it, so this was a treat for them to have this indoor toilet believe it or not! Sometime during the week, Helen would study her Sunday School lesson that she would be teaching the coming Sunday. Most of the time she would catch a little study time when Linda and Jimmy were taking their afternoon naps. Every Sunday she opened the Bible to teach the Intermediate Children's class. Willie taught the men's adult class each week would study the next week's lesson on Sunday afternoon and would refresh himself on Saturday afternoon or evening to be sure he was ready to help those that were in his class to understand some truths of the Bible. Kewanee Missionary Baptist Church were blessed to have Willie and Helen as part of their membership. Not only did they both teach classes each week, but they sang in the choir and were a part of the mixed church quartet. Helen sang soprano, Willie sang tenor, Una Mae Rhodes sang alto and Mr. Nolley sang bass with his wife lending her talent at the piano. They were also doing their part with the membership...adding 2 to the children's department with Linda and Jimmy. (smile) When Sunday rolled around, Frank and Jane pulled up in front of the new place and honked the horn. Willie, Helen and the kids came out in their Sunday best to hop into their spot in the old Watkins Car. Today was a special day for Willie because today he was being ordained as a deacon by his pastor, Brother Jimmy Gibson. There would be a regular service that morning followed by dinner on the grounds and at 2pm that afternoon the ordination service would begin. Willie was glad that he would be serving the congregation in this way. Comments Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Leave a Reply | _Author
