New Baby Jimmy Scares His Mommy 11/21/2011
That little 2 bedroom home in East Prairie, MO was bustling with activity as all the kids were getting to know their new baby brother, Jimmy. It was time for bed for the big kids, they still have to get up and go to school tomorrow. Having a new baby in the house did not give them a pass to stay home. Larry and Sondra each had a twin bed in their shared bedroom. They would be able to shut the door and would probably not even hear the baby cry during the night. Willie would go back to school tomorrow too, so he would also need to go to bed soon. Linda's little bed was in her mommy and daddy's bedroom along with the baby bassinet. They would get her to sleep first so she would be sound asleep and hopefully stay that way with the grunts and cries of a new baby. _Heating those bottles for the midnight and 3 a.m.feedings would be a new routine for Helen, but since she was not breast feeding, it wouldn't all fall on her either. At least on the weekends Willie could help her out with a feeding or two. Since the birth had been so easy for her this time, she was actually already feeling pretty good...a little tired, but good. She still can't believe that the doctor had actually hypnotized her and she didn't remember a thing about the birth. How in the world does that work? She probably would never know...the only thing she does know is that she is now holding this sweet little baby boy that was born yesterday and he was precious. Everyone was asleep accept for Helen and Jimmy, so she quietly held him and gave him his 9pm bottle and would go to sleep herself when she was finished feeding, burping and changing him. She re-swaddled her sleeping baby and put him in his little bassinet. She slipped under the covers next to her sleeping husband in hopes of going straight to sleep. As she listened to Jimmy breath she indeed drifted off to sleep. She didn't wake up until she heard her little guy squirming and start to cry...she went through her new routine of heating the bottle and feeding him. For the next couple of nights, Jimmy did great and Helen was adjusting to getting up every 3 to 4 hours for the feedings. When Jimmy was 3 days old without any warning, he began to shake, jerk and stiffen up - like a seizure. He wasn't running a temperature and he had been doing so good before this. Helen wasn't sure what to do, her other children had never been through anything like this. Polly was at her mom and dads which was close to Helen's and when she left, she stopped by to see Helen, Linda and the new member of the family. Helen was never so happy to see anyone in her life. They took Linda to Grandma and Grandpa Tollison's house then took off for Dr Sergeant's office in Sikeston to have Jimmy checked out and find out what was going on. The doctor first wanted to send him to a neurologist, but Helen didn't want to do that. Polly suggested that they take him to old Doc Robertson in East Prairie and see what he says. He has been around for quite a while and she trusted him. So they headed back to East Prairie to see Dr Robertson. They arrived at the Dr Robertson's office, Jimmy was calm again. He would have a spasm, then it would stop...what's going on with her baby? Comments Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Leave a Reply | _Author
