No More Monkeys Jumpin on the Bed! 11/16/2011
It was packing time again in Arkansas! Have you noticed that Willie and Helen have moved a lot so far in their marriage? Bless their hearts...it seems like they just get settled in somewhere and they have to move again. If it wasn't because of a job, the war, rats or college then it was a baby on the way that caused them to hit the road with their belongings. Willie did wish he could have finished college before needing to leave, but you didn't hear him complaining. That is one of the qualities in him that is so admirable. It is what helped him stay strong while away from his family for three years fighting in WWII, it is what helped him be such a loving son, husband and father and it is what continues to help him make unselfish decisions. He knows that he will finish his college education, just not on the same course as planned. During the packing process, Sondra and Larry had to do their part. They were old enough to pack towels, clothes and what few toys they had. Linda couldn't be watched every second while they were packing the boxes, so she got into a little mischievousness! Their little monkey was having a grand ole time jumping on the bed. She would try to go higher with every jump and didn't see any danger even when she would fall on her bottom on the mattress. She would just get back up and start jumping and giggling not realizing she was a little too close to the edge of the bed. One more big jump and she missed the side of the bed and went straight to the floor. Her mouth was open as she hit the floor causing her to bang her teeth and busting her gums. What seemed like all kinds of fun for Linda, ended up with lots of bleeding, screaming and tears. Linda had just gotten some of her baby teeth in and now those sweet little teeth were loosened from the fall. Helen ran in and grabbed Linda up and washed her off and tried to calm her down. Willie cradled his baby girl in his arms as she started to relax. She started to put her thumb in her mouth as she often did when someone held her, but she quickly took it out as it hurt to much to suck on her thumb. It could have been so much worse...They were just thankful that it was just her mouth and teeth...Linda could have easily broken a leg or arm or worse than that...her neck. She was asleep now - so back to the packing...they would be getting on the road tomorrow on their journey back to the great state of Missouri.
