Linda and The Writing on the Wall 11/23/2011
Jimmy was a few weeks old now and it seemed like he had been a part of the family forever. The other kids loved to talk to him, watch his eyes follow them when they moved and loved it when he smiled (probably gas). He was still on medicine for his "spasms" and was growing everyday. They were so thankful that he was doing so well and knew that he was going to be just fine. After all...God had big plans for this little fella. Linda was 2 now and not sure if she is going through her "terrible twos" or not but she sure did want some attention from somebody in that house. She was going to be sure that she was NOT lost in the shuffle or the scheme of things. She just knew she was daddy's girl and was going to make sure nobody forgot that. One day when Helen was busy in another part of the house, Linda decided to do some artwork on the walls. She was so proud of her work in the living room and hall. She wanted to be sure everyone remembered she was a part of this family, so much so that she not only drew on the walls...she dug the pencil really deep to make a really good "impression". After she finished with her masterpiece, she began to rethink what she had done, but by then it was more that just an "ut-oh" (which she liked to say). Mommy was not happy when she saw what she had done and she got a stern talking to and swat on her bottom. After being scolded, she was not nearly as proud of her artwork as she had been but quickly forgot about it and started having her "two" year old fun. One thing for sure, she never did that again. Linda did her acting up at home, because when she was at church...she was a really good girl. She didn't try to be ornery during the preaching service like her Sissy had when she was her age a few years back. The house where they lived in East Prairie, MO was serving it's purpose of providing a roof over their head, but there were some issues that were going to prevent the Tollisons from living there anymore. The issues weren't the "writing on the wall" that Linda had done, but a different type of writing on the wall. They had moved to this little house when they returned to the Show Me State after living in Jonesboro, AR for a short time. Willie and Helen and the kids had been plenty happy there, but when they found out how bad the well water was, they couldn't stay. It was actually dangerous for them to even cook with it. It was an older well that tested with all kinds of bad bacteria. You are always going to find a certain amount of bacteria in water, but when it is dangerous to use...you had to heed the "writing on the wall" so to speak. So that is what they did, and started looking close by for a house with city water. Comments Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Leave a Reply | _Author
