Insurance & Grabers 12/01/2011

The school year is winding down and Willie realizes that he has to find something else to do during the summer months to bring in money.  Being a school teacher means that you are paid a salary when school is in session, but when school lets out for the summer, there is no money.  So as summer approaches, Willie puts his feelers out there to see what is available for him to do for 3 months.
Willie decided to try his hand at selling insurance.  The company that he would be setting up accounts for would be Life and Casualty Insurance.  Working for an insurance company meant that you would need to be a good salesman and care about people,  which would be no problem for Willie.  He loved people and enjoyed knowing that he was helping them get prepared for those unexpected life events.  When he talked with folks, they could sense that this was more than a job to him, he genuinely cared.

Helen found out that  Grabers Department Store was looking for someone to work part time.  She talked it over with Willie and decided that she would apply and find out if it was something that she could do while being pregnant.  When she filled out the application and talked with the supervisor, they wanted to hire her right away.  She was still having the issues with her pregnancy but was assured by the supervisor that she would be able to sit as much as needed.  So she would work on Friday evenings, Saturday all day and on days that they were having a big sale.  This extra money coming in from her job would really help with the finances.  If she had to work on a day that Willie was not home, the kids would stay with Frank and Jane (Willie's dad and mom) - the kids loved going to their Grandma and Grandpas house.  There was a lady who lived in East Prairie that also worked at Grabers, so Helen was able to ride in with her to work on her scheduled days.  Everyone at Grabers started calling her the Baby Girl...well I think you can guess why.

Willie took Helen in for her regular check up at 6 months and let the doctor know about her new job.  He was okay with it as long as she could have frequent breaks to get off of her feet.  She assured him that the supervisor had given his approval for that.  The kids were all with them for the doctor visit, meaning that Willie was in the waiting area with them while Helen went back to get her bones snapped back in place again.  On the ride back to the house, Jimmy still wanted to sit in mommy's lap, but was finding that more difficult as her lap was shrinking with her belly growing.

When they got back to East Prairie, Willie pulled up in front of the house and they all started piling out of the car.  Linda jumped out first all happy and as soon as she turned around, Jimmy popped her in the mouth with the car door.  Bless her heart!  She has the worst luck with her mouth...just look at that busted lip!  Of course Jimmy didn't mean to hurt his big sister, but it still hurt nonetheless.
