_Willie and Helen caught the bus in Nashville, Tennessee to head back to Sikeston, Missouri.   They had enjoyed every minute of their time in Music City, but were more than anxious to get home to hug on their children.  This was the first time that Helen had ever been away from her kids for any length of time except for when she was working.

_Somehow even the air felt different when they arrived in Missouri.  After they got off the bus and took their things back to the house, they headed to Kewanee.   Helen felt her heart catch in her throat as she thought about what her kids were doing at that very moment.  She couldn't seem to get there fast enough ... she wanted to see her babies.  Willie didn't show his emotions the way Helen did, but he was ready to see the kids too!  He loved picking at them which would always lead to,  "Oh Daddy!"  Meaning that they knew he was teasing them.

When they pulled up to get the girls...they all ran as fast as their little legs could carry them, except for Paula...she was on Sissy's hip!  They were so excited to see that car pull in the driveway.  They talked nonstop about all they had done while at their Aunt Louise's house.  They couldn't wait to show off their new pink dresses, so Helen opened up their sack and looked at them. She smiled and made over them (a Southern term meaning she talked about how cute they were).  Linda was in her daddy's arms talking his leg off (another Southern term LOL)  Sondra handed Paula over to mom, and Paula hugged her mom's neck really tight, then reached for daddy.  There was something about all the girls and their daddy...I think you call that being a daddy's girl.  Sondra made sure she shared too, and told mom that she helped take care of Linda and Paula ... made sure they ate and were okay.  They each in turn hugged Aunt Louise, Barbara, Janet and Bonnie and thanked them for letting them stay.  Paula put her little hand in the air and waved bye bye and then threw them a kiss.

Now it was time to pick up the boys...when Larry saw them pull in the dirt driveway, he ran to get Jimmy to tell him that mom and dad were there.  They had enjoyed their Grandma Rhodes good cooking, and she had been really nice.  But when it came to Grandpa Rhodes...they thought he had been a little gruff with them.  Of course, Larry didn't tell mom and dad about the mischief he and Bill had been up to, he just said he had fun with his cousin.

Jimmy loved on his mom and was so happy to see his sisters, he even hugged on them.  Helen was back where she wanted to be...with her kids.   She had worried about the boys time with her dad after what he had said about them.  She would never leave them there again...they were her responsibility.  She looked at Willie as they pulled out of the drive and waved at her parents...this was her family now...she loved her parents...but this is her place.
